Be Content with What God Sent

This morning, I was going over Proverbs 16, and the 33rd verse is such a simple statement. "We roll the dice, but God controls the outcome." Actually, the whole chapter marinates in the same theme. We plan, but God directs our steps. Sometimes I forget that the number of hairs on our head, He has numbered, He knows if a sparrow falls from the sky, and on and on.

So why is it that I let anxiety creep in? I get upset and question when I can't get consistent work, or when I have to drive 100 miles to do it. When I fret about my lot or circumstance, I'm meddeling with What God already knows, and is allowing. Sometimes my thoughts can parrellel what the disciples felt when they thought the boat was going to sink while Jesus comfortably slept. Would He really let them drown when He knew the plans He had for them later? Doubtful. Yep, they freaked out; still had much to learn from the Master!

Ecclesiastes 5:18-20 talks about this "Even so, I have noticed one thing, at least, that is good. It is good for people to enjoy your food and wine, and enjoy whatever work under the sun during the short life God has given them, and to accept their lot in life. 19 And it is a good thing to receive wealth from God and the health to enjoy it. To enjoy your work and accept your lot in life—this is indeed a gift from God. 20 God keeps such people so busy enjoying life that they take no time to brood over circumstances.
